“Blasé Builders”
(05.01.2023)
Back before boredom began boiling;
Building bunk beds became blasé…
Brown boards being brought by boys,
Beckoning builders, bar by bar…
Busy bees, baking beneath balconies;
Bathed by brutal burns…
Bending backwards, begging breezes;
Boldly breathing between boxer briefs…
Bringing blinding bliss
Betwixt benevolence…
Word of the Day: Blasé

“Avuncular Avery”
(05.02.2023)
Avuncular Avery, he’s so
Very kind and patient with the
Unexperienced kids who simply want to play the game.
Never has he lost his temper, he’s quite
Calm and collected; and full of
Understanding for his students…
Learning a new skill is never
An easy task; yet he
Raises their spirits
And encourages progress! He knows that
Vulnerability is the key to success; and
Every student does admire how
Real and down to earth he can be. Through their
Youthful exuberance, true potential, he will unleash…

“Fancy Cheeses And Epic Spreads”
(05.03.2023)
Look at all the
Fancy cheeses
That we have here…
It is clear that
Our dear friends are
Planning parties…
Invitees, they
Surely will be
Happily pleased…
Shall we say it’s
Banausic, this
Epic spread? Nay!…
Their display is
Amazing, and
Second to none…

“Bringing Down A Tyrant”
(05.04.2023)
Marching into the month of May; we stay
Vigilant in our resolve to become
Free from this tyrant, and his vicious ways.
To his new regime, we shall not succumb!…
Since he has become our leader, we’ve seen
New atrocities committed daily;
So our people decided to intervene,
With the help of some crafty Israeli’s…
Night after night, we built new explosives,
And studied the tyrants daily schedule;
All the while, believing that our motives
Were just and completely indissoluble…
But even the best laid plans of mice and men,
Can fall victim to failure; in the end…
Word of the Day: Indissoluble

“Natural Jubilee”
(05.05.2023)
Traipsing through the trees, we have the
World laid out at our feet; it seems
That time here moves much more slowly…
There are so many sights to see;
Mountains, coppices and streams.
This forest is filled with beauty…
When it is only you and me,
Pushing ourselves to new extremes,
In the wilderness; we feel free…
Upon hillsides or by the sea,
We will always follow our dreams;
And view this world with jubilee…
Word of the Day: Coppice

“Unable To Escape The Summer Heat”
(05.06.2023)
The day was as hot as the night was long;
Sun, burning everyone stuck on the street,
Unable to escape the summer heat…
We spent hours on the beach; singing songs
So loudly, and stomping our fervent feet.
The day was as hot as the night was long;
Sun, burning everyone stuck on the street…
The rays of Apollo shone on us so strong,
We headed back home, through the sea of concrete;
To flump on our floors, and admit defeat.
The day was as hot as the night was long;
Sun, burning everyone stuck on the street,
Unable to escape the summer heat…
Word of the Day: Flump

“Artistic Motivation”
(05.07.2023)
All I need is this pencil and paper
To motivate my state of mind;
And encourage creativity
During my free time…
The art of writing poems,
Be them free form or guided;
Requires patience and imagination,
To see them to completion…
This old desk is an appurtenance,
Truly a relic of bygone days;
Covered in scraps of paper,
Half dead pens and ink stains…
Yet, are any of these things truly necessary,
To inspire the act of creation?
Or, should one instead look inward,
To find artistic motivation?…

“PNW POV”
(05.08.2023)
Of all the places that I’ve known
This is the most luxuriant.
From snow-capped peaks,
To sandy beaches;
Or forests, looming with ancient trees.
From deserts high,
To valleys low,
And everywhere in between;
The Pacific Northwest is
Truly a sight to be seen…
For those in love with the outdoors,
There seems an infinite amount to explore;
The wilderness here goes on for miles and miles.
Though others may argue, “There’s nothing to do”,
It all just depends on your point of view;
For only you can decided
What makes you frown or smile.
But, if you stick around awhile,
You may come to love this life style…

“Random Items Collecting Dust”
(05.09.2023)
Its been so long since I took the time to
Reorganize this messy farrago,
My creative space resembles a zoo;
Has a hurricane hit my studio?
How I accrued so much stuff, I don’t know,
But it’s getting to the point that I must
Do something; before it overflows
With random items collecting dust…
It’s been so long since I tried to go through,
My collection, that just grows and grows;
And even though it’s long over due,
I just can’t seem to get into the flow.
Although it fills my heart with woe,
To see these object age and rust;
I guess sometimes that’s just how it goes
With random items collecting dust…
It’s been so long since I reviewed,
All that I’d put off until tomorrow;
But now I know that I must pursue
A life that is free of such cargo.
With a renewed sense of gusto,
Like young lovers in the throws of lust;
My focus becomes more thorough
With random items collecting dust…
Now that I’ve bought this new condo,
In which to put all of my extra stuff;
I no longer feel like I’m being swallowed
By random items collecting dust…

“Equipollent Boxers”
(05.10.2023)
He thought that he was the best;
Could not be put to the test…
And, due to his vicious pride;
From a challenge, he won’t hide…
But now, the day it is here;
For him to show all his peers…
Just why he is number one;
And truly, second to none…
Each challenger that he faced;
Was quickly put in their place…
Right up to the final match;
Just one foe left to dispatch…
Yet, they were equipollent;
So, all their strength, it was spent…
With each blow that they landed;
More life force was demanded…
By the end, both men had died;
So, it was declared, a tie…

“Mathematical Refrain”
(05.11.2023)
Today my
Kids
Were excited
To
Find out about Pi;
And it’s infinite number sequence…
Loudly,
They sang together,
Just like a choir;
Cavorting,
So joyously, as
The number sequence rose higher!…
“3.1415926
535897″…
All the while they danced and smiled,
Their voices,
Ringing
Out as one;
Causing this mathematical
Refrain, to get
Stuck deep within our brains…

“Heroes of Yore”
(05.12.2023)
In life, they were formidable,
These heroes of yore;
Stronger than a dozen men,
Courageous to their core.
And, just as they supported us,
With strength so monumental;
We now have made them telamons,
To guard our sacred temples…

“The Dude Abides”
(05.13.2023)
The thing to know about a good rug, is
The way that it ties a room together.
Truly, I’d say, there is nothing better
Than the patterns conceived in fine stitches.
But now, due to new circumstances,
To which we have found ourselves tethered;
We are no longer sure about whether
Or not, it is worth these extra stresses…
This case of mistaken identity,
Has truly taken me for a ride;
But, I think, I know now what I must do.
I won’t let them all get the best of me,
As the dude, I shall always abide;
And just stay the hell out of Malibu…

Athrawesgymraegfaire!
Wilmington, Delaware;
Was where I fell in love
With a school teacher…
My girl with auburn hair;
The scent of lavender,
Surrounds me, each time I
Attempt to reach her…
Our hunger for true love,
Has made us ravenous;
More time spent together,
Just drives it deeper…
We’ll always remember,
That fateful September;
When our love for passion,
Became the feature…

“Nuclear Armageddon”
(05.15.2023)
We all know about the mega-powers,
And their nonpareil point of views;
But, what will happen on the day,
They decide to launch their nukes?…
First, there would be panic;
Second, we’d attempt to defend ourselves.
Third, comes retaliation;
Fourth, the nukes will follow their course.
Fifth, we would see the sky light up;
Sixth, those with faith, would pray.
Seventh, the heavens will open up;
Eighth, The chosen are taken away
Ninth, the end is finally nigh; but
Tenth is the promise of a new beginning…

“Rhetorical Treats”
(05.16.2023
How is it that you
Are so easy to talk to?
So affable, that
It’s almost laughable.
Any time I see your feet,
Walking up my street,
I know that I’m in for a
Rhetorical treat;
Or perhaps a new philosophy
About the way we should be
Striving to live our lives.
To make the most of our existance,
Without the stress of tension
Bearing down on us,
Time and time again;
Tempting us to revert to
Original sin.
We must learn to live life
On our own terms,
Lest we forget the lessons and
Experiences we’ve earned…

After all these years
Of working in the hot sun;
Haven’t you learned anything?…
Your poor work ethic,
And the way you lollygag;

Yet the end is not in sight…
And, everyone knows,
It’s because of your lack of

You’ve never been one for pleasantries,
Treating others as if they were scum,
Creating so many enemies;
How hostile you have become…
You always love to play the victim,
And blame your woes on societies
Norms, as though you don’t fit their system…

Say, “you’ll never live under their thumb!”

How hostile you have become…

“Secluded Swamps”
(05.19.2023)
Down in Florida,
Where the sea level rises,
And the ocean meets the land;
There lies a swamp, secluded
From the reach of common man…
We sought to explore
It’s mysterious wonders,
And the rare wildlife
That have made it’s shores their home
In this quest for survival…
These turbid waters,
They hold many secrets.
Creatures lay hidden,
Deep within it’s murky depths;
Waiting for their chance to strike…

(05.20.2023)
When the sun is vibrant and high,
We will skylark the day away.
No matter what others may say,
To their norms, we shall not comply…
O! Our joy, they can not deny,
As we dance and frolic and play;
When the sun is vibrant and high,
We will skylark the day away…
This mantra we choose to live by,
Guided us to this simple way;
Enjoying the beautiful days,
And the nourishment that’s supplied,
When the sun is vibrant and high…

“Life Choices”
(05.21.2023)
Some people wear masks,
To disguise their intentions;
Others are more bold…
Some believe in chance,
They are so adventitious;
Others crave control…
Some people make plans,
To give them an advantage;
Others live off luck…
Some people live life,
Like there’s no tomorrow;
Others just feel stuck…
Some people can’t stand
The weight of their own shadow;
Others are more free…
Some believe we all
Must serve a higher purpose;
Others disagree…
Though you may think life
Is hard, just remember to
Take some time to breathe…
We all make choices,
That determine who we are
Truly meant to be…

“Lack Luster Lessons”
(05.22.2023)
Our new professor’s
Lectures go on forever,
Never do they seem
Like they’re coming to an end;
He just keeps on rambling…
How can he not tell,
From the moues on our faces,
That we’re bored to tears
By his monotonous tone;
And lack of captivation?…
Yet, still he goes on
With his lack luster lessons,
Attempting to reach
Some deeper kind of meaning;
To which we just can’t relate…

(05.23.2023)
They say bad things happen in threes;
With the way this day has been going so far,
I’m surely bound for more…
I must have woken up on
The wrong side of the bed this morning;
Nothing seems to
Be working out in my favor today…

Causing me such strife;
O! Why
Have I been
Burdened by this inconvenient curse; that haunts me so?…

“Pelagic Paradise”
(05.24.2023)
Here in this pelagic paradise,
Far from the comforts of land;
We must learn to heed nature’s advice…
Out on the open sea, we come to understand,
How vast and wide the ocean can be;
Far from the comforts of land…
In the depths, where millions of fish swim,
We begin to perceive
How vast and wide the ocean can be…
Why we pollute this paradise, I can not conceive,
We must learn to change the way
We have come to perceive…
Mother nature’s beauty, should forever amaze!
For ourselves, and future generations,
We must learn to change our ways…
There are so many potential revelations,
Here in this pelagic paradise;
For ourselves, and future generations,
We must learn to heed nature’s advice…

“The Wiseacre and The Hater”
(05.25.2023)
Do you really believe
That it makes you seem smarter,
To speak with a fake British accent;
And blurt out your opinions
To every single question,
with no regard for others,
Like a true wiseacre?…
I just can not conceive
Why you’re making this harder
Than it needs to be; If you’re hell bent
On judging my decisions
And teaching me a lesson,
Then we’re no longer brothers,
And you’re just a hater…

“An Importunate Child”
(05.26.2023)
An importunate child
Has been running wild
In this food court, now, for an hour.
While, his parents, just cower
By the sunglasses tower;
Praying he wears himself out.
Yet, he continues to scream and shout,
Though nobody seems to know why; or what about.
We’re just getting more and more annoyed,
By this terribly misbehaved boy.
His lack of discipline,
Has our patience wearing thin;
And his parents won’t step in,
So what can we do?…
Then, out of the blue,
As if she knew;
His grandma flew
Over, and saved the day.
She carried him away,
Though he fought and cried;
She bent him over and tanned his hide.
Then we all sighed
A sigh of relief;
Finally free from the grief
of an importunate child…

“Concatenate Design”
(05.27.2023)
Keep calm and respond
Only to voices that are familiar;
Sit down and chill for a bit
On this dirty old couch.
You’ve been so grouchy recently,
It seems to me like there is something
Weighing heavy on your mind;
Yet you just can’t find a way to release it…
You’re so tired of the bull shit,
But still keep shoveling.
Mumbling under your breath about
The troubles you’ve accumulated over the years;
Yet still fearful of doing something new
To improve your situation.
Revelations only come to those who dare
To leave themselves open to the will of the universe.
To accept one’s place
In it’s concatenate design,
And allow it to flow through you
Like a river intertwined with your soul;
Only then may you begin
To become more whole…

“Across An Endless Ocean”
(05.29.2023)
For weeks we’ve been wandering now, at sea, searching for potential victims to maraud.
This vikings life is not one for the weak; it is one of extreme violence and endurance.
It is a daily struggle for survival, in which one must take what they need by force or die trying.
Our ships have made land on many a shore, and many a foe has tasted our blades;
But now we sail for unknown lands, and are becoming unsure of our fate…
This distant paradise, heard of only in stories, lies west; across an endless ocean.
An oasis of fertile soil, fresh rivers, and lush forests; filled with an abundance of wild game.
It is a place any man would dream of calling home; but first he must overcome the perilous journey,
To prove himself truly worthy…

O! Danny,
From glen to mountain side,
Flowers are dying;
And I must ‘bide.
But, when summer’s hushed with snow,
I’ll be there;
In shadow…
And, if ye are dying,
As well I may be;
Come find where I am lying,
And kneel for me…
I shall hear you tread above me,
And, my grave will sweeter be;
For you will tell me that you love me,
And then, I shall sleep in peace…

(05.31.2023)
Now that you are gone
I wish I could say that I knew you better;
But we grew up so far away, in location and age.
My memories of you are filled with mystery and magic;
Yet also, inspiration…
You followed your dreams, and
They took you around the world;
Developing you craft with the best of the best.
You always remained loyal to your family and friends,
Until sickness finally forced you to take an early rest.
I know I shouldn’t be so tetchy with myself,
You taught me that, with you brotherly wisdom;
But now all I receive when I call your name is bitter silence…
So I will always cherish our memories, and
The time we got to spend with each other;
And hope that you can finally
Rest In Peace
My dear brother…
