“Notorious Winter Conditions”
(02.01.2023)
Snow
Begins falling
From ominous clouds…
Covering
Our town
Within an hour…
Winter
Is unpredictable
And notorious here…
The unprepared masses
Living in
Fear…
Leaving us to
Depend upon
Ourselves…
Lest we be
Defeated by
Cold…
Word of the Day: Notorious

“To Improve Upon Society”
(02.02.2023)
Citizens come from all around to
Witness his eminence, so bold and powerful…
Every decision that he decides
To make, effects the well being of all in this town…
All of the problems that we face
Are brought to his attention without hesitation…
Relying upon intuition
And experience to provide him with solutions…
To make our lives much better
And relieve us from the pressures of complacency…
Ensuring that each of us has a
Role to play in the larger scheme of society…
So long as we all work together
To make our existence more productive and fruitful…
Our community will grow and grow
And provide us with a more meaningful way of living…

“The Symphony of the Year”
(02.03.2023)
The stage was set for the soirée
“The Symphony of the Year”
The orchestra took their places
And people let out a cheer…
The conductor, with his baton,
Hell bent on keeping the time
So focused on every movement
Reaching its musical prime…
But lo & behold, a heckler,
Lies hidden within the crowd
His voice and timbre so piercing
So impolite, yet so proud…
His comments were brash and obscene
He openly yells and screams
At the performers just trying
To follow their tonal themes…
Then suddenly, he felt anguish
For all the words he had said
The conductor had heard enough
And, from the stage, shot him dead…
Word of the day: Heckler

“Chthonic Creatures”
(02.04.2023)
Thinking about chthonic creatures
Living without the light of the sun
So content in their underground dwellings
Beneath humanity’s fervent feet…
Living without the light of the sun
They’ve adapted to the darkness
In ways we can’t comprehend…
So content in their underground dwellings
As they toil away within the soil
To improve their subterranean way of life…
Beneath humanity’s fervent feet
Lies a world that we rarely see
Deep within the mantle of our earth…

“The Tale of a Torpor King”
(02.05.2023)
Frozen in my bed
Waiting
For the sun to rise
Hoping
That it parts the clouds
Bringing
Inspiration to my brain;
Darkness
Dominated my dreams,
Intense
Scenes of destruction and
Screams of
Horror, people filled with
Sorrow
Surrounding me, until all I can see is
Chaos…
Where is our leader, should he not be
Reigning?
His actions and declarations, so bold and
Supreme
I’ve heard he’s become overrun by
Torpor
No longer even able to leave his chamber,
It seems
That stagnation only serves to stifle and
Corrupts
The dreams that lie deep
Within
Even the most noble of
Mens hearts…
Waiting, hoping
Bringing darkness;
Intense screams of sorrow;
Chaos reigning supreme.
Torpor, it’s seems
Corrupts within
Mens hearts…
Word of the day: Torpor

“Never Give Up The Fight”
(02.06.2023)
The preparations were made in haste
The start of the show was drawing near
The crew, backstage, all got into place
As the audience began to cheer…
The curtains flew open to reveal
A single guitarist, bathed in light
Bursting with talent and sex appeal
Adorned in a cloak of red and white…
The spotlight making his silhouette
So grandiose, like a golden god,
Each subtle note, each droplet of sweat
Causing the crowd to scream and applaud…
Despite the massive sea of faces
He keeps his cool and remains sang-froid
Even as the music, it races,
He feels no fear, for he’s over joyed!…
He gets to do what he loves each night
Followed his dreams and made them come true
And, if you never give up the fight
One day it might just happen to you…
Believe in that which fulfills your life
And don’t you ever give up the fight…
Word of the day: Sang-Froid

“Must Go Faster”
(02.07.2023)
We’ve been on this road for hours now
Riding its many twists and turns
Going as fast as this car will allow
Watching as the forest around us burns
Engulfing all the trees and ferns
In a purifying fire
That continues to grow, causing concerns
For what is about to transpire…
These tortuous roads are causing such stress
Within our already racing brains
Making it harder for us to assess
The optimal option that contains
An access route which still remains
Untouched by this natural disaster
If we hope to escape from these terrains
Like Jeff Goldblum said; “Must go faster!”…
Word of the day: Tortuous

“Be Here Now”
(02.08.2023)
I was thinking about the sun all night
And then, it dawned on me, so suddenly
To ease these fevered dreams, it seems we need
To focus on the present and invite
Ourselves to live a life that’s truly free
From desperation, cruelty or greed.
Ultimately, we must learn to accept
That life is so full of difficulty
And tomorrow is never guaranteed
So we must, in turn, become more adept
To change…
If we can embrace this simple notion
And not be persuaded by desire
Stay focused on the task that is at hand
And commit to it our full devotion
In turn, we will no longer conspire
To aimlessly wander across the land
Like a fugitive on the lam, instead
We will actively seek to aspire
To be here now, so we may understand
To live in the past or too far ahead
Brings strife…

“Time Heals All”
(02.09.2023)
Pain
Will stay
Within us
Each passing day
That we moan and fuss,
Corrupting our outlook
On life, like a city bus
Ride that we never should have took;
The scars on our hearts, always remain…
Time
Heals all
Wounds in life
If big or small
Be it gaffe or strife,
Just keep moving forward,
Remain sharp like a good knife
Stay vigilant, don’t be absurd;
And always strive to become sublime…
Word of the day: Gaffe

“Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response”
(02.10.2023)
Autonomous sensory
Meridian response
Sending a tingle down the
Length of my spine, before becoming ensconced…
Deep within my subconscious
Triggering euphoria;
Such a soporific bliss
Washes over me, as we leave Florida…
The highway becomes a blur
As the beaches and caves
Fade into the distance and
The palm trees sway in time with the oceans waves…
Fatigue surrounding me now
Til only dreams remain
Hopefully, ASMR,
Will help me calm the noises within my brain…
Word of the day: Soporific

“No Need To Rush”
(02.11.2023)
There’s no need to rush, the night is still young
The stars have only just begun to shine
There’s still plenty of food and vintage wine
And songs that are yet to be sung!
For, tonight, we get to be among
Good friends, and let our lives intertwine
There’s no need to rush…
Enjoy each moment spent with a good friend
Bimble through each new experience
And you will come to find, in a sense
That even though every party must end
There’s no need to rush…
Word of the day: Bimble

“Overwhelmed By Paroxysm”
(02.12.2023)
Who are we to question
Where our feelings come from
As we go about our days…
Lingering haphazardly
Through this rainy and dreary phase
Like a tiger stuck in a cage…
Waiting for some excitement
To break us from the haze
Of complacency we now face…
Until, one day, a change of pace
Occurred within our troubled brains
Altering our sense of malaise…
Overwhelmed by paroxysm
Our lips begin to curl
And reveal an ominous smile…
Perhaps this new feeling
Will bless us with contentment
At least for a little while…
Word of the day: Paroxysm

“Boondoggled Craft”
(02.13.2023)
I don’t remember exactly
Just how you came to convince me
To help with your newest public project…
Who knew this would go so badly
Thrown together haphazardly
Surely, once they see it, they will object…
Working in such stifling heat
Along this California street
Is causing us to slowly go insane…
The sun, absorbed by the concrete
Melting our shoes right to our feet
Still, our drive to complete this task remains…
He gathered up his staff
Around the final draft
To reveal the finished product…
But the public just laughed
At this boondoggled craft
And dismissed his newest construct…

“The Fateful Four”
(02.14.2023)
Mistress Marie
Had the gift of prophecy
Her vaticinations helped each client
Except the fateful four; who’s futures turned out to be violent…
Jeremy Smith
Always got away with
Any mischief he found himself in
Until the night he stole a car; and wound up in prison…
Katelyn LeGrippe
Always loved to skinny dip
With friends, in the ocean, after dark
Until the night when she tried it alone; and ran into a shark…
Gregory Shinoke
Always loved a good smoke
But he found that he couldn’t turn back
Once he had become hopelessly addicted to crack…
Damien Sloan
Felt so scared and alone
Stuck in the snow on that fateful December
When the cold caused his body to finally surrender…
Word of the day: Vaticination

“Homeward Bound on a Stolen Bike”
(02.15.2023)
It has been such a long and cold night
Yet still we continue with this fight
The darkness, it seems, will cover our schemes
Of mischief, should we choose to take flight…
Some people look down on our life style
And treat us as if we are hostile
But we only strive to simply survive
While also remaining versatile…
Though some of us are vociferous
Starting commotions, causing a fuss
Most just desire shelter and fire
Yet still, we’re seen as superfluous…
Since we don’t fit societies mold
Most people we see just scoff and scold
They expect us to live like fugitives
And leave us to freeze, out in the cold…
My friends know me as Mischievous Mike
Day after day, I do as I like
Since life on the street is full of deceit
I’m homeward bound, on a stolen bike…
Word of the day: Vociferous

“Fairweather Friends”
(02.16.2023)
How can one depend
On fairweather friends
Who would not defend
Them in a fight
They only pretend
At making amends
I can’t comprehend
Why they’re so trite…
We’re all meant to grow
And go with the flow
Not be filled with woe
So hideous
Guess I’ll never know
Why some can’t let go
Of those who are so
Perfidious…
Word of the Day: Perfidious

“Destination: Monterrey”
(02.17.2023)
This upcoming Saturday
We head out of town
Destination: Monterrey
Where we will get down!…
At the yearly jamboree
Where we’ll sing and dance
Like we’re watched by nobody
Lost within our trance…
The first night was so heavenly
Music played til dawn
Progressing so steadily
Til the stars were gone…
The second was fantastic
Each new band that played
Engaging and dynamic
As we swung and swayed…
But it ended suddenly
As string gusting winds
Rocked the stage so abruptly
Bringing on the end…

“Mental Coffers”
(02.18.2023)
When you’re faced with vicissitude
It’s best to be adaptable;
And not become so radical
That it corrupts your attitude…
Instead, embrace your fortitude
And the strength it has to offer!
Your pain, it will grow much softer
And help alleviate the stress
That comes with the grieving process;
As you search your mental coffers…
For an answer to your problems
A solution to cure your woes;
If you wish them to decompose
You’ll find only you can solve them…
To reach a positive outcome
We must alter our point of view;
And accept all that we’ve been through
As a lesson that must be learned,
If we truly hope to have earned
The wisdom that we may accrue…

“Sorrow In September”
(02.19.2023)
He left his house,
As quiet as a mouse
And made his way down
To the center of town
To meet his friend James
And see the big games
Between the bold teams,
Following their dreams
Of fame and glory;
This underdog story
Has captivated all
Fans big or small
And fills us with joy
Like a bright eyed school boy
Who thinks he’s so cool
On the first day of school…
The crowd all filed in,
As the game did begin
The small stadium
Was packed to the brim
The first whistle blew
As the ball flew into
The sky, causing cheers
To deafen our ears
The players below,
Running to and fro
With all of their might,
Continued the fight
To achieve victory;
But then suddenly
A thunderous crash
Caused everyone to gasp
The weight of all those fans
Packed into the stands
Caused the support beams
To burst at the seams
Rupturing sutures,
And killing the viewers
That happened to be
In propinquity…
This devastation
Has crippled our nation
A tragedy,
Leaving us weak at the knees
We must remember
That fateful September
When it all fell apart;
Along with our hearts…
Word of the day: Propinquity

“Underachiever (No Child Left Behind)”
(02.20.2023)
Improper fractions have been running a muck
Within my brain, causing me to feel stuck
No mathematics can be solved just by luck…
The words on these pages, they confuse me so
Too many definitions that I don’t know
Attempting to read such books, fills me with woe…
I don’t understand basic biology
The components comprised within you and me
Guess I’ll never grasp that ideology…
History always gets mixed up in my brain
So many great moments there are to retain
Yet, the reasons why or when, I can’t explain…
I’ve never been good at music or art
Most times I’m not even sure where I should start
Though I’ve heard that true beauty, comes from the heart…
It’s true that my teachers all think I’m a fool
But now, thanks to the newly appointed rule
Of this aegis; I may graduate from school!…

“Crippling Cirrhosis”
(02.21.2023)
As the sun rose
He threw on his clothes
Quickly;
Out the door he goes
Though his face it grows
Sickly;
Yet, despite his woes
He keeps his repose
Strictly…
He made his way down
From the edge of town
Hoping;
For healing renown
Relief to be found
Coping;
With pain so profound
Feels like he may drown
Choking…
Then, in a swivet
He tried to pivot
Yet froze;
He’d reached his limit
That very minute
Cirrhosis
So explicit
Had left his liver
Disposed…
Word of the day: Swivet

“Joyful Tongues”
(02.22.2023)
Please meet me at the confluence
Of our parents white picket fence
Where I’ll be waiting in suspense
It makes no sense; it makes no sense…
Why we can not be together
And commit our hearts forever
Never will they come untethered
We will treasure; we will treasure…
Every moment we get to spend
With each other, until the end;
Yet, our parents can’t comprehend
They just condemn; they just condemn…
Though they believe that we’re too young
Say our dreams of love are far flung
Ours is a song that must be sung
By joyful tongues; by joyful tongues…
So we’ve made plans to runaway
Despite the awful things they say
About us; come next Saturday,
We will escape; we will escape…

“Igniting Internal Fires”
(02.23.2023)
Please refrain
From reverting to mundane
Routines; they will make you grow
Slow…
Don’t believe
Those attempting to deceive,
They wish to lead you astray;
Stay…
Vigilant;
Remain true to your intent,
Ignore hortatory schemes;
Dreams…
Can come true;
So continue to pursue
Them, there is no need to rush;
Trust…
Your instincts;
They will help you to distinct
The passions that help kick start
Hearts…
And inspires
Us to fully aspire
Towards our truest desires;
Igniting internal fires…

“Strange Concoction”
(02.24.2023)
What is this strange concoction
That lies brewing before me
On the table by the den
In a mason jar?…
It’s mysterious contents
So foreign to my senses
Combining and fermenting
Together as one…
I’ll only try a spoonful
Surely no one will notice
If I take a little bit
Right off of the top…
As I bring it to my mouth
The aroma, so pungent
Creeping into my nostrils
Causes tears to form…
Then the liquid hit my lips
Such a barrage of flavor
Caused my tastebuds to explode!
Right there on the spot…

“Opinions Are Like Assholes”
(02.25.2023)
I don’t mean to lambaste
You; no, but your actions
Have proved to be cruel
So how can you expect
Positive reaction?…
When you act in such ways
With heightened emotion
It always leaves you
Behaving like a child
Causing such commotion…
We all have opinions
That we form over time
About the quandaries
Life presents to us all
To make us more sublime…
But when you try so hard
To pass them off as truths
You end up looking
Like a bigger asshole
Then you intended to…

“Insouciant Vagary”
(02.26.2023)
You behave with vagary
When there is an audience
Acting unpredictably
Like a nervous child…
Why you act so differently
When there are others around
To me, is a mystery
I can’t comprehend…
We all face anxieties
When we leave our comfort zones
Some can’t handle this distress
And feign ignorance…
It’s best to be adaptive
When faced with situations
That test the limitations
Of what we’ll endure…
Ultimately, we must be
True to ourselves fully; and
Not worry so much about
What others may think…

“Runaway Bride”
(02.27.2023)
The bride and groom both prepared
For their special day
Their families had all gathered
Here, to celebrate.
Their love has lasted longer
Than anyone thought
Strengthening the connection
Growing in their hearts…
Tuxedo and dress bespoke
They both looked their best
Ready to confess life vows
And seal with a kiss.
As the orchestra began
The bridal chorus
All eyes became fixed upon
The end of the aisle…
Yet their expectations were
Shattered so quickly
As the brides noticed absence
It cause quite a scene
Unsure of her commitments
She’d snuck out the back
And decided to flee from
Her marital dreams…

“Maintaining Mindfulness”
(02.28.2023)
When we were
Young, we used to love
Running fast
Through gardens
Filled with beautiful flowers
Ripe and redolent…
As we grew
Older, we began
Walking slow
Taking in
All of the wonders this world
Has to offer us…
Over time
We learn to adapt
And strive to
Make the most
Of each moment that we have
In our fleeting lives…
